Part of the problem is always in the question. Are you sure this is
composite PAL color? Like, not RGB, and a genuine PAL VIC (not an
NTSC VIC at 50Hz or something strange)?

Was this mpython, by the way? He's the only guy I've met who is said
to have one of these monitors.

Yeah, I've got an October 1987 serial 002349. I've also got
a 1080 from June 1986.

On the one hand, they are busted -- the 1080 vertical sweep is hosed,
so just a single line is displayed; the 1084 has a strange problem
with mild red saturation (as if the tint knob was turned towards red).
On the other hand, that line is just a shade of gray when I hook up my
PAL 64, and there is no color evident on the 1084 (just shades of red);
when I hook my 128 up, there is color, and not just shades of red.
I just checked it.

And that's why I've considered these claims to be dubious. :)

I'm afraid I'll have to see it to believe it.

P.S. Does anyone happen to have suggestions as to how to fix up a
monitor whose vertical sweep is toast, and oh by the way what about
a monitor which seems to have extra red saturation? :)
