Hi André and Marko, since André did a full quote, I'll take that mail to answer Marko's part too. > do you have experiences with this USB chip Cypress SL811HS? > http://www.cypress.com/portal/server.pt?space=CommunityPage&control=SetCommunity&CommunityID=209&PageID=259&fid=10&rpn=SL811HS > (Is this what is mentioned as "EZ-USB" below?) While the EZ-USB series formerly was a product from Anchor Chips later bought by Cypress, the SL811HS is a "true" Cypress development. At least I believe so. To my knowledge the SL811HS has nothing in common with the EZ-USB architecture. Even I don't know if the SL811HS has got a builtin µC that can be programmed freely. Mainly the '811 is an USB host controller chip that also can be used as an USB device (client / slave). > As far as I see there are some CBM projects underway with this > chip, e.g. here http://www.strotmann.de/twiki/bin/view/Microusb/ProjUSBCSixtyFourPic > A first glance at the specs seem to make it easily useable, > but then I do not have any ideas about higher level USB > protocols.... (I am, however, actually planning a prototype board > for my CS/A computer with it) Ah yes all the projects there incorporate USB host applications. As far as I know the Atari people did already program some 6502 drivers for USB mice and keyboards. To make a network alike connection via USB maybe these "USB network" cables could be used along with a specialised 6502 driver, don't know? André, maybe you want to have a talk with Nicolas Coplin who seems to have done a C64 prototype. > Considering CPU+USB combinations - I found a place with 6502 with > builtin USB: http://www.jesstech.com/new/english/jes.HTML_Product.phtml?id=5# > (Don't know how reliable this source is, though) Oh nice, a "sinful web application" (according to a book I'm currently reading) and a 6502 core for USB, wow. Unfortunately the datasheet claims that it would be a keyboard (only ?) controller: http://www.datasheetarchive.com/search.php?q=WT65F1 Womo Message was sent through the cbm-hackers mailing list
