Money transfers using checques or other paper-based methods are usually
prohibitively expensive (whether national or international), so
electronic methods like giro, transfers directly to a bank account or
using a debit/credit card is a lot easier and cheaper.
An alternative could be to use Western Union or some other kind of
money transfer service. WU seems to have offices almost everywhere
nowadays, although I don't know what their transfer fees are.
