Yes, that makes sense! The directory makes indeed uses of channel 17 and 18.

I advice the opposite: don't use them, unless you are 100% sure they are not used by other programs!
As I don't need the GCR routines and I also freed the top half of the stack. And this room I'm using now. I also set the Stack Pointer at $80 instead of the original $45. I don't think my routines have more subroutines then the original 1541 routines but it won't hurt.

I already have it and I use it, together with the Data Becker one, as one of the main sources to find out how things work. But I'm only human and haven't read every single page :)
