Lol... the Magic Voice was the last straw for a type of issue, Tom Brightman brought one in, plugged it in to the C128 and the 128 promptly crashed. They were toggeling the /GAME lines dynamically, every cartridge up until then had been hard jumpered. So we didn't see the /GAME line asserted, tried to jump to the reset vector at $FFFC and THEN they asserted their own ROM/code which not only collided with the internal ROM's but also didn't know how to set up the MMU, etc. Everyone went home thinking that the 128 was cooked. Knowing that the Z80 booted to a completely different address, $0000 to be exact, I called Von Ertwine at home. Von wasn't home but his wife Kathy read me the opcodes needed for the Z80 if it woke up first and we punched them into the eprom burner by hand. Kim Constein modified the board by inserting an inverter on the /RESET lines (Z80 and 6502 already had opposite polarities and were hooked together if I remember right) and son of a bitch if it didn't come up. Where did you get MV proto? -----Original Message----- From: owner-cbm-hackers@musoftware.de [mailto:owner-cbm-hackers@musoftware.de] On Behalf Of Steve Gray Sent: Monday, March 29, 2010 12:12 PM To: cbm-hackers@musoftware.de Subject: Re: VCF PET Alive! - April 24th to May 2nd I'm torn.. part of me is fascinated by stories like this and part of me is sad to hear this stuff is lost forever...
