Hm, so if relatively early revisions of the TED chip were not stable even after adding the two diodes, I wonder what kind of message that would have left to appointed software developers who got ahold of prototype/developer boards in order to supply Commodore with a decent amount of software ready for the launch. Since the chips were socketed, possibly Commodore could have mailed out updated chips to developers as hardware development progressed.
