I use the XU1541 with Linux. Does what I need (reading and writing 
disks). Not too fast, but I can live with 2:20 for to read a disk (using 
-t s2) over the serial connection. Writing is a bit slower.

There are faster ways, but if all you need to do is to read or write a 
floppy now and then, the XU1541 will get the job done cheaply.
