Yes, I am wondering if the Apple is interchangeable in a 4040 drive? Can you replace the drive on a 4040 with the drive from the apple. I am not talking about the controller board. Obviously that is different but the drive itself looks the same. The connector look the same too. -----Original Message----- From: owner-cbm-hackers@musoftware.de [mailto:owner-cbm-hackers@musoftware.de] On Behalf Of Didier Derny Sent: Thursday, January 19, 2012 3:48 PM To: cbm-hackers@musoftware.de Subject: RE: CBM 4040 Drive and the Apple Disk II As far as I can remember the mechanical part is almost the same (not sure it is exactly the same version) But the controller is extremely different. The apple controller is reduced to a bare Minimum when the commodore controller is really advancer. -----Message d'origine----- De : owner-cbm-hackers@musoftware.de [mailto:owner-cbm-hackers@musoftware.de] De la part de Ed Johnson Envoyé : jeudi 19 janvier 2012 21:03 À : cbm-hackers@musoftware.de Objet : CBM 4040 Drive and the Apple Disk II I just bought an Apple Disk II. When I took it apart to clean it I noticed it looked quite familiar. Has anyone had any experience with this. Is this the same drive as in the old PET drives? It looks the same.
