The part that interests you is the board version and there are a few of them: http://www.cbmhardware.de/c64/c64board.php If you want to stay compatible with the SX-64, you need to avoid the board revision 250469 since that one uses the HMOS-II-Versions of VIC (8565) and SID (8580) which cannot be used (easily) in an SX-64. If you want to stay on the safe side, you need to pick up a C64 built in 1986 or earlier. That means the old breadbox with the dark keys and the flat (C128 like) version with the keyboard where the graphic symbols are on the front of the keys and not on top with the letters.
