Problem with opencbm, xu1541 and xubuntu12.04

Hi,

I upgraded my system to Xubunto 12.04 and also compiled a new version of 
opencbm (0.4.99.94) to use it with a xu1541 adapter and an Oceanic 
OC-168N with original 1541-II-ROM, a combination that worked flawlessly 
on the old install.

Problem is, it doesn't work now:

Using 'strace' shows it opening the library but then it quits with the 
error message schown above. 'cbmctrl dir 8' just does nothing.

I also get the following in 'dmesg' when I plug in the xu1541:

  hub 3-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
  usb 3-1: new low-speed USB device number 10 using ohci_hcd

'lsusb' lists it properly:

No hub is used.

The last install (10.04) used 'opencbm-6f55387' which worked fine but 
wouldn't compile on 12.04.

Anyone here have an idea what I'm missing or doing wrong? To me it looks 
as if the software is OK, the hardware is OK, but they just don't talk 
to each other.
