I used a mix of the outdated documentation for 0.4.2a plus reading and interpreting the Makefile and the error messages I got during the compile attempts. One of them hinting at the missing libusb. After adding that using 'apt-get', the compiler ran through the whole tree without blowing up. The resulting binaries seem to be OK since they run and look for the plugin, find it, but then just quit (not core-dump!) as if the plugin is there but it can't find the hardware. USB works in general since the mouse and USB storage don't give me any trouble. My approach worked without problems the last time I installed opencbm.
