Your software doesn't count when it comes to replacing the 6529 with a 
TTL. :)

The dead ones on the user port of the keyboard port? My idea is for the 
keyboard port only, the user port needs R/W capability. That will need 
at least 3 TTLs (74LS574 + 74LS244 + 74LS139 or so) plus some OC drivers.
