I wrote a few times about preferring 6569 over 8565 due to 8565's more "synthetic" visual performance and especially the vertical stripes and "spike" effect visible on raster tricks. There is however at least two things, which I find noticeably better on 8565 equipped boards. One is the power dissipation, which seems to be palpably lower and the other is lack of chrominance "artefacts" resulting in some edge colour bleeding/ghosting on wide boards. While there is not much to be done (except lowering the supplied voltages) in terms of energy saving, AFAIR the output levels of both chips differ significantly. Maybe there something that could be done to mitigate the unwanted chroma effects? -- SD! Message was sent through the cbm-hackers mailing listReceived on 2012-11-24 19:00:09
