IMHO they shouldn't. RTCs I saw rely on its own crystal. And if there is one that wants to use the AC frequency - it implies immediately that the accuracy is not the top priority there. I am more concerned about some potential influence like unwanted noises/hums, etc in analogue add-ons. (modems? audio add-ons?)
