Ok, will try that!

I found a scan of a book called "SAMS Computerfacts CP17: 1526/MPS802 Printers - Technical Service Data For Your Printer" (from here: http://www.bombjack.org/commodore/books.htm). I thought that the Commodore's service manual was thorough, but this goes even further (it even has logic probe display charts). On the PDF's page 10 it shows the mains transfomer and the brown NC wire that I have. It still doesn't answer what is it for (in the drawing it looks way too small a portion of the primary side to be a 230V side).
