I don't know what you have there but what I have seen for home budgets was not enough. Even yours is not going to be enough either: 250micron but you don't want to print the gear sideways, do you?

And Shapeways says:

"SLS is one of the most accurate 3D printing processes. The process has a layer thickness of 0.1mm."

as well as:

- maintain a wall thickness of at least 1mm,
- accuracy is 0.1mm,
- always keep a clearance of 0.6mm
- and parts may have a deviation of 0.2mm.

the thing is (AFAIR - it's been some time) 3.7mm and has 13 teeth. Now - give even one of them 0.2mm deviation. Or more than 5% in general.

Now - wall thickness: 3.7mm (the diameter) less 1.5mm (the axis) divide by two and you are at 1.1mm... at full tooth length!

So - basically - yes, I can bet...


P. S. The dimensions are out of head so might be off but not so much as to change the whole perspective.
