Interesting. I assumed the localized machines came direct from the factory. So the conversion kit probably consisted of new keycaps plus a new kernel rom. I wonder if the kit also included a new user guide? Time to update my CBM-II page...

I asked Helmut Proxa about the German keyboards.
He told me that Commodore delivered the CBM 600/700 machines with
      ascii keyboards and the conversion kits had to be ordered
      separately.
