This leads me to the conclusion that the "new" > version from the book is indeed -05, but the "old" version is not -04 but an > even earlier one. Probably the -03 then. It existed as a Mask ROM in early systems. Most systems did have the -04 and -05 though. Commodore even replaced the kernal in some systems with a -05 afterwards (the kernal ROM had a '86 datecode while the rest of the chips were all '84). That makes me assume that some bugs were pretty bad. Here's the 'cmp -l' output between -03 and -05: 3297 251 40 3298 15 272 3299 221 315 3300 172 352 3515 377 251 3516 377 171 3517 377 221 3518 377 172 3519 377 251 3520 377 0 3521 377 310 3522 377 221 3523 377 172 3524 377 140 6145 5 10 6146 4 11 6338 254 256 6342 16 17 6356 140 30 6357 254 140 6358 47 254 6359 5 47 6360 242 5 6361 0 352 9454 240 245 9455 0 370 9456 204 205 9458 245 360 9459 370 3 9460 360 40 9461 11 214 9462 105 344 9463 365 240 9464 205 0 9465 365 251 9466 245 272 9467 370 215 9468 40 337 9469 214 7 9470 344 40 9471 261 331 9472 272 7 9492 352 342 9497 345 335 10116 210 251 10117 204 266 10118 251 215 10119 204 337 10120 222 7 10150 245 240 10151 247 0 10152 240 40 10153 0 331 10154 44 7 10155 223 352 10156 20 44 10157 10 223 10158 321 60 10159 266 2 10160 360 245 10161 4 247 10162 204 305 10163 251 247 10165 2 11 10373 245 40 10374 247 331 10375 44 7 10376 223 352 10377 20 44 10378 10 223 10379 321 60 10380 266 2 10381 360 245 10382 4 247 10383 204 305 10384 222 247 10410 245 251 10411 261 0 10412 320 205 10413 12 220 10415 222 370 10416 45 246 10417 251 261 10419 14 24 10420 245 44 10421 370 223 10422 20 60 10423 20 10 10426 40 205 10427 36 220 10428 364 70 10429 70 114 10430 260 310 10431 11 350 10434 40 205 10435 36 220 10436 364 70 10437 70 114 10438 260 310 10439 1 350 11811 245 352 11812 255 352 16256 361 136 16257 203 205 Gerrit Message was sent through the cbm-hackers mailing listReceived on 2015-03-03 08:00:05
