That is a black metal frame for the keyboard hole. That is part of the mold.
Probably it was used later to cut out the keyboard hole or maybe during 
molding.

There's a photo of the molds a bit down there - it shows also a C64C
case next to them, and to the right... ? A C16 case? Or what could this be?
