Hallo Didier, > I thought it was 4164 It is indeed the 4164. The problem can indeed be one of RAM ICs as well. But I never encountered a board were a faulty RAM was the reason for not starting up. But theoretically it is possible. In the 80's I built a debugger that enabled me to step the 6510 and to see what the address and data lines did. A real faulty ROM showed nonsense at the know reset vector and if I had a faulty RAM the first JSR would go wrong. I'm also able to let the 6510 (or 6502) run up to a predefined address and to step from there on. But if it didn't stop at all, then I would know that something had go wrong. By try-and-error I was able to find the address where it went wrong and then to see what went wrong. Quite handy.
