silverdr-2 << I think I have come up with an even easier solution.

I have managed to get a SFD-1001 (100i) with a smashed internal mechanism.
It looks like it has been dropped on it's nose and it has caused the drive
mech inside a fair bit of damage in the front end.

However otherwise it's OK.

Would you be willing to post me a couple of faulty internal drive mechs from
a 8250LP? These are the same and would fit.
Then maybe I could make a working one with a few spares for any future
maintenance needs.
The heads in these mechs are the fail point usually and it was where my
original 8250LP from the 80's failed.

I don't think this would be a lot postage wise to .AU?
