I'd love to know more details about that - a sample program with a
failing loader would be best. The drive is supposed to not
touch the clock and data lines while ATN is high and it is not in
listener or talker state, so just disconnecting ATN should be sufficient.

The only issue I can think if is additional capacitive load on the serial
bus due to the longer cable, which could cause issues for fastloaders
whose setup-to-sample time is too fast - but that wouldn't apply to the
C128D(CR) because its internal bus is much shorter than a standard
serial cable.
