With the availability of the service manual and ROM images, I thought I would try to make a parts list for the 8296 (see below). There were a number of problems, so it probably needs correcting. 4K editor ROMs have a description at $E800-E900, so these are easily identifiable. This area is not accessible from inside the 8296. "324242-01" is the same as "324242-10". The service manual says "-01", "-10" is questionable for a system with only a few variations. There are two versions of "324243-02B" that are very different. One is a 2K ASCII ROM. The other is a 4K EURO ROM. The 2K ROM agrees with the description in the service manual. "324243-04.bin 2017-05-23 4096" is the same as "324243-04_editor_din_ue8_8296d.rom 2011-05-22 4096". "324381.01B" is the same as "324402.01". ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8296/8296D Parts UC11 6502 CPU UC13,UE3 6520 (2) PIA UC12 6522 VIA UC9 6545 CRTC UC2 324743-01 74S288 32 x 8 EEPROM UE6 324744-01 82S100 PLA I UE5 324745-01 82S100 PLA II UA1-UB8 64K x 1 Dynamic RAM (16) UC5 324242-01 2532 EPROM Character DIN UC5 901447-10 2316 ROM Character ASCII UE7 324746-01 27128 EPROM Basic 4.0r B000-DFFF, F000-FFFF * 324878-02 2764 EPROM Basic 4.0r B000-BFFF, F000-FFFF * 324878-01 2764 EPROM Basic 4.0 C000-DFFF UE8 324243-01 2532 EPROM Basic 4.0 E000-EFFF 8032 4V2E (E-901474-04) UE8 324243-02B 2532 EPROM Basic 4.0 E000-EFFF 8032 4V2E (E-901474-03) UE8 324243-02B 2516 EPROM Basic 4.0 E000-E7FF 8296D ASCII UE8 324243-03 2532 EPROM Basic 4.0 E000-EFFF 8296D EURO 4V2E UE8 324243-04 2532 EPROM Basic 4.0 E000-EFFF 8296D EURO 4V4E UE8 901474-04 2316 ROM Basic 4.0 E000-E7FF 8032 ASCII * Daughter board in UE7. 8296GD HIRES Adapter 324992-02 2532 EPROM NK-84 HIRES 256A/02/2 9000-9FFF 324381-01B 2532 EPROM HIRES BASIC REV.1 A000-AFFF 324402-01 2532 EPROM HIRES BASIC REV.1 A000-AFFF 324993-02 2532 EPROM HIRES BASIC REV.2 A000-AFFF ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- wlevak@sdf.lonestar.org SDF Public Access UNIX System - http://sdf.lonestar.org Message was sent through the cbm-hackers mailing listReceived on 2017-07-14 10:00:02
