It would be cheaper for Cloanto to have bought the copyrights from Amiga Inc (Delaware/KMOS) who were desparate for cash and had no use for the copyrights, than pay off a chartered attourney to commit fraud to the US government and risk their entire career. I'll take that. Those particular documents are only worth something if you violate a copyright on something that is covered, for Vice that would be 1540/1541 roms as they could claim statutory damages and court fees. Commodore had to register them to sue the 1541 drive clone manufacturers, who then bought jiffydos roms instead. Whatever other documents that the attourney saw are more interesting. We can only guess what they were, but Amiga Inc (Delaware/KMOS) owned all the commodore copyrights & Cloanto wanted to buy them all. Cloanto ship c64 and amiga roms in a commercial product while making statements that they are the legal owner of the copyright, if they were wrong then I'd expect someone to dispute it.
