Guys, now, it gets somehow silly. To sum up the facts: - Until now, I did not want to make 0.4.99.x an "official" release because of lack of proper documentation. I do not have time to update it properly. - Now, because it was requested by many people, I made 0.4.99.x the "official" version. DESPITE THE PROBLEMS WITH THE DOCUMENTATION - And now, I get complaints because there are problems with the documentation: YES, I KNOW IT! If anyone feels like he can contribute, feel free to do so. * On Sat, Sep 09, 2017 at 04:13:37AM +0000 Steve Gray wrote: > Spiro, > > Some comments: > > - Generally, the page at http://spiro.trikaliotis.net/opencbm is a mess. > - You list the version at the top but there is no link to download, rather > there is a link to the manual - confusing > - Download is farther down and hard to find. > - Links under SPECIFIC versions take you to the latest version (ie: changes) I do not understand what you want to tell me? This is documentation for the development releases. It was never intended to be seen by the "normal" end-user. Instead, there would have been a changelog from 0.5.0 to 0.4.0. Due to lack of time, I never wrote it. > - Dead links > - http://spiro.trikaliotis.net/opencbm-0.4.99.99/opencbm (under 0.4.0.60 , > installation) Fixed to http://opencbm.trikaliotis.net/ > - http://www.jammingsignal.com/gui4cbm4win/ (External links) Removed. > - The "introduction" is more of a short FAQ, but there is another FAQ later. It documents EXACTLY what changed between 0.4.99.98 and 0.4.99.99. > - Inside the 0.4.99.99 zip file, the readme is mostly for Zoom Floppy. I know > they're related but shouldn't there be a readme for OPENCBM? They should be > separate. There are two types of users of OpenCBM: 1. People who expect OpenCBM to be as general as possible 2. People who expect OpenCBM to document the ZF, as it is the largest base of users of OpenCBM (or so they tell me) At the moment, we have TWO "distributions" of OpenCBM: The official one, and the one given with the ZF. This means that I have to support two different versions of it. Because of this, I reacted to the people according to No. 2 above, and included the README of ZF into OpenCBM, in order to get rid of the 2nd distribution in the ZF as soon as possible. Now, this is wrong again. What shall I do? Whatever I do, people will not be satisfied. Regards, Spiro. -- Spiro R.
