As far as I know, the difference between the intra-sector-gaps was not very well documented. That is, "essentially" and "in an ideal world", the on-disk format of 2031, 1540, 1541, 1570 and single-sided 1571 is identical. > Is there a difference between full-height 2031 and half-height 2031? I must admit that I do not know. When I speak about the 2031, I always think about the 2031LP. I do not even know if the ROMs of the 2031 high profile are available. However, I would think they would be identical, yes. Note that both the 4040 and the 2031LP use "8 byte" is intra-sector gap. It's the same value. It is only the fact that the 4040 writes 8 "data bytes" which are GCR encoded afterwards, while the 2031LP uses 8 "raw bytes" which makes a difference. I would think that noone thought about this difference when the 2031 was built. Regards, Spiro. -- Spiro R.
