Btw if I had a 1541 with socketed VIA and ROM I would had made the 2031 modification, but all my 1541's have soldered-on ICs and I don't want to risk frying a 6522 by desoldering as I don't have a good desoldering station for DIL40 IC's. (The rom could be scrapped by cutting each leg and then it would be easy to desolder the legs individually).
