I totally get your point here.

To be honest, I think he didn't actually sell anything within the
exhibition. At least the XUM I've preordered I recieved outdoors on
public space.

This is just a guess but I think the main issiue is that you kind of
need to be a bunch of friends or family that helps each other out
staffing a stand.

Maybe it would be a good idea if the kiosk or entrance staff at the
exhibition could sell this kind of stuff with a commission? It has a
fixed price and doesn't need any knowledge from the seller, so it's
just like selling an expensive icecream or similar. But maybe there are
legal problems here?
