Obviously, I'm still fixated on this. :-) SO, I finally found a "hard reference" of "Compute!" magazine in Jan. 1981 printing a full-page ad from MCI which includes WordCheck. To go to print in a magazine in January 81, the ad copy had to be sent in 1980, perhaps in November or earlier. SO, I just updated Wiki again: The first spell checkers for personal computers appeared in 1980, such as "WordCheck" for Commodore systems which was released in late 1980 in time for advertisements to go to print in January 1981.[8] Thanks for reading - I feel better now.
