Hallo Mia, > Well, with an ATN trap you could get away with no interrupt as the timeout is iirc infinite on the computer. When handling the command DIRECTORY, the IEEE drive receives various ATNs from the CBM. Until now I have no idea why the CBM does this but it does so I had to act on and handle them. They are not send at random so I figured out when they were sent and I adapted my software. Then I met this Belgian guy with his device that asked for a directory and my software couldn't cope with it because it expected ATNs at various places that didn't come anymore or came at the wrong place. That's why I decided to give it another try to hook the ATN input to an INT input. I tried that before but it never worked. This time I found out what I did wrong (forgot to reset the 8259) and things work fine. The software just sends the directory byte by byte and if a ATN is sent, the interrupt routine checks whether the software should pay attention to it or not.
