This TEST bit clearly is a "can of worms"; I just tried lines 043 and 042 and got completely different results with each again. Line 42 was particularly interesting as there was no flickering around the spot where TEST got set (I think it is that place, rather than 8 cycles later where it gets reset), but instead what looks rather like the 3 cycle period at the beginning of an FLI line; the character colour was light grey and the character was $FF, for the whole of the character. The routine was synchronised with the screen by this (no flickering), hence I suspect the processor was stopped during those 3 cycles. I suspect full understanding of what the TEST bit does is going to take a long time. Having opened the can of worms, we must now delve inside :) Richard -- Richard Atkinson Software Engineer Tenison Technology EDA Ltd http://www.tenisontech.com/ - This message was sent through the cbm-hackers mailing list.
