I've used 128dcr drive on c64 for couple games that trigered 2mhz on c128 (kane and livingstone I presume). There was "some talk program for c64", talk similar as few basic lines to make rs232 terminal to talk over device 2,. That talk offered to chose number 20-27 and you could talk over serial devices, but there was another program, like ram drive on c64 offering 32KB drive 27. One could load"$",27 on another computer it was a bit faster but much slower that 1571 or 1541 with speedloader. I thinks it were commodores programs. At that time this was pointless to me, as c64 could not be used and who owned two computers back then, and it offered less space than floppy ?!? Soon after that there was also reu ram disk, but I've use it more under cpm then in c64/128. I've remembered this as someone say "floppy disk drive to simulate an elementary network", and this gave me an idea that is possible that developers may have used for something. Basically that idea could be used to create some sort of very slow network of c= computers, so computer could communicate on same line similar as jiffy dos where two drives could copy between each other without computer.
