Hi all. So: I can a design a computer, that would use a 100% compatible hardware with the Commodore 64. And also create a kernel 100% compatible with the Commodore kernel and roms. And both of that compatibility done with no reverse engineering at all but by looking how the software runs and what the software expects to get from the computer, and what to feed to it. And that way, have a 100% compatible Commodore 64 computer that is NOT a Commodore 64, running Commodore 64 software in a hardware similar to the Commodore 64's one and with a kernal or BASIC that is "non equal or similar" to the Commodore 64 kernal or BASIC. And I can name my computer "Captain 64", register the name and create a logo, and advertise it as "Commodore 64 100% compatible computer. And have NO ONE being able to sue me at all, because I did all from scratch and with no reverse engineering, and by using standard hardware or parts available to anyone, or creating my own ones. Do that means something? rings a bell? Yes: it's what happened with the IBM PC. -- Sent from: http://cbm-hackers.2304266.n4.nabble.com/Received on 2020-05-30 01:27:52
