Hi, Thank you for the advice. I am not afraid of replacing and aligning the drive head. I have some practice in electronics. The problem is really to source the head. Nowadays the full drive mechanism is also difficult to find. I would rather replace it with the ALPS version but not easy to find. Levente has pointed me to a D500 mechanism for sale but that is for 1541-II (although can be modified to make it work) and its price is nearly the same as a whole working drive.
