Through hole parts go down to 55ns (maybe 45ns) - that is max 10MHz if at all. Anything faster is SMD ... should be possible though. The VHDL will be modular so you can replace different timing options (at least that is planned). Currently ~8MHz max freq. and Composite vs. VGA timing are planned. I may be able to easily provide 12.5 MHz with VGA timing, with a faster RAM, but that only works on a new board with SMD parts. Did you use SMD-packaged RAM or do you have other options for fast RAM?
