Back in around 2001 and this has to do with the GEOS upgrade Wheels Maurice Randall wrote The Wave browser for HTML and text based web browsing, but it didnt have a Graphics engine. The Wave supported both the C64/C128 using Wheels OS. I know this new VIC chip is for the C64, but The downside to The Wave browser required a SUPER CPU. :( The C64 version of The Wave browser word wrapped, well I wonder if Wave browser would be compatible with The Wave Browser and it wouldnt word wrap anymore and be 10 times better with 80 columns. I wish Maurice Randall was more active I bet he would really like this and be inspired to support The Wave browser more. Maurice did update the code on The Wave to v1.0 and its open source using 16 bit code. So if youre into GEOS OR WHEELS this might be good existing productive software. The good news to this is that Maurice did open The Wave code to *open source* wish someone could carry on where Maurice abandoned it. I think Maurice mentioned one time that he was working on HTML tags also and I believe frames. With this Vic update I wish someone could now code a graphics engine, but maybe Im dreaming too big. :) If theres someone on this list that has been able to contact Mr Randall about this new VIC I bet he might be willing to upgrade Wave 64 browser for this. BTW The Wave has its own terminal too that can Tel net. Again The Wave browser was coded as 16-bit code using Wheels unique routines (little different than GEOS routines some).
