You sure you're not mixing up things here? I don't know of IEEE drives that use a 6500/1. I know they used a 6530 which is IO/RAM/ROM in one chip and in some drives (*) they used 6530 with an adapter to replace the internal ROM (with bugs or wrong code) with an external 2716.
