That is fantastic!  I could really follow what's going on in there.
Definitely wouldn't be hard to use that to mod disk geometry to other
capacities.

I have a couple of TM602S and TM603S mechanisms but I'm not sure they
all still work.  Back in the day, I paid $$ to get one refurbed
(needed a new Track Zero sensor, so since the HDA was already being
opened, it wasn't much extra to get new platters.  Pretty sure that
one still works, but it's still only a few MB.

Since ST225s are among the more abundant 5.25" mechs, no reason not to
max it out the filesystem limit of ~16MB (but OTOH, who wants 500
files in one place?)

What I might do with it is stuff a hard drive full of v3 Infocom game
files for running on the PET at Vintage Computer Fairs.  Those are the
largest files I can think one might use with a PET.
