16.1 is not _that_ old. If you bought the non-free edition you should
have your licence key file. If you lost it you should be able to
receive a replacement. Knowing the corpos "processes" this may take
some time and efforts though ;-)

Are you 100% positively sure that you bought paid licence for
(presumably) 16.1? ;-)

Maybe starting with the free edition first could help? But since you
already spent a couple grand, (right?) on a paid edition I am sure
you'll get your licence file regenerated.
