Hmmm... doesn't the VIC-20 use a different IO chip (the 6522) than the C64 (6526)? How would this effect even the attempt to code a jiffydos kernal for the VIC? - Bo -----Original Message----- From: owner-cbm-hackers@dot.tml.hut.fi [mailto:owner-cbm-hackers@dot.tml.hut.fi]On Behalf Of Carlsson, Anders Sent: Thursday, March 15, 2001 3:47 AM To: cbm-hackers@dot.tml.hut.fi Subject: Re: Informations about JiffyDOS Marko Mäkelä wrote: > JiffyDOS doesn't make use of the fast serial bus (burst mode) on > the C64, because it doesn't require any hardware modifications. Ah, ok. I thought hardware modifications and the burst mode were involved. How about Dolphin DOS, Professional DOS and all the other? Does any of these use burst mode, and possibly can't be used at the same speed with the VIC? I already knew the deal with VIC-II, UI- and the other issues, which in practise makes the VIC 25% faster with normal transfer mode. /Anders Carlsson - This message was sent through the cbm-hackers mailing list.
