Please explain. Well, another possibility for RGB is to provide 6 bits per color, so 3*6 is 18 bits... This way, the intensity is coded "inside" the color information... BTW: The 16 color modes of some PC graphics cards have a 6:5:5 scheme, so two colors (I'm not sure which ones) have 1 bit less resolution than the others... Spiro.
