They're certainly strange machines, these Aldis. Mine wasn't exactly put together carefully. Lots of the screws were loose and one had even fallen out in transit! I suspect they were built this way, out of whatever was left over out of various production runs, like the strange left-over machines that they are ;) Curiously, mine had two heatsinks made out of bent aluminium sheet metal. One had been on the 8565R2 VIC-II and the other on the keyboard 6526A CIA. Both of these had fallen off and were rattling around in the case although the "thermal" glue was still evident on the two chips. I've never seen individual heatsinks in a C64 before.
