There is no benefit in sending out HTML mails or even both, plain text and HTML. On the contrary, you are more likely to get caught by overly sensitive spamfilters. You might want to tell your IT people that they should make it the default behavior to send out plain text only. Per: Maybe there's a feature for Majordomo which allows automated conversion of HTML messages to text like the one offered by the latest incarnation of mailman?
