  As I read, some of you made experiences with the 8250 or the newer
Intel UART's even in 6502 environments.

  Could you explain me the main differences between a 8250 and
a 8251 USART? ...I know, the 8251 is able to do work in some
synchronous mode too, but what I'd like to know that are they
somehow compatible in the normal UART modes or are they simply
different design and do they have nothing to do with each other?
