They main program logic is written in basic. All the Sid Meier programs -- Pirates!, Silent Service, F15 Strike Eagle -- are a combination of BASIC and ML. My friend used to joke that maybe some Quickbasic code was in Civilization, just from habit. I believe most older games used BASIC as well. Anders mentioned Sword of Fargoal, and I'm pretty sure a lot of the SSI games (Phantasie, some wargames) had a lot of BASIC code. Strip Poker is in BASIC (and has a REM shift-L at the end of _every_ line). The MUSE games -- Space Taxi, Rescue Squad, and probably Castle Wolfenstein -- also used BASIC+ML, I believe.
