You can program the firmware through the RS-232 port, so you really only need to acquire the parts (AT90S2313, MAX232, five 100 nF capacitors, a 8 MHz crystal, an RS-232 connector and a tape connector, and optionally two 4k7 resistors for the CASS MOTOR signal).
