1541 -> 1571

Hallo allemaal,

I have only one 1571. And the most of the time I use it as a 1541. But there
are times I wish to copy some files from my 1571 to another disk. In that
case I have to use a 1541. In combination with a C128 in C128 mode this
means I'm stuck to the slow transfer mode.

Checking some schematics this morning I ran into the one of the 1571. By
adding a 6526, a 74LS241, may be some invertors and replacing the EPROM, I
could turn a 1541-II into a 1541 with 1571 transfer speed. And to put the
dot on the 'i', the 1541 has only one head so changing the ROM where all
variables are initialised, dimisses us from the need to tell this '1571' to
use only one side of the disk every time we turn it on.

Any comments, ideas?
