Sorry for not answering your private email, but Wednesday is my day off.

Regarding attaching a harddisk as load for the PS, that is an nice idea, if
it is an AT supply (although IMHO the C900 is more then enough load). But in
your case, using a ATX supply, I wonder if the 3.3V line must have a load as
well and then a HD won't do.

I'm sure there isn't a 50 or 60 Hz signal on an ATX connector. A quite easy
solution is another AC PS, like a common 9V one and to use a diode, resistor
and zenerdiode to generate the needed pulse. But this extra PS doesn't make
things look pretty. (unless you're able to install this contraption inside
the case of the C900)
Another, but less easy solution is to make a little circuit that generates
the needed frequency out of what ever is onboard.
