Hi!, I modified a 1.2 drive today (as "described" :-E ) . It was pretty easy, as far as I can tell... and it (still =-) ) works. I used an SS443A (Honeywell). The magnet came from a very old "professional" (Hall-sensor) keyboard wreck (I could as well have used a regular magnet sold with Hall-sensors / Reed-relays, but there was little space around the drive motor so I had to use something smaller). Only thing to pay attention for, is the orientation of the magnet (as the sensor is unipolar). Other than that, it worked just on the first try.
