What I like about the 264 series is that it has the really nice BASIC 3.5 and maschine language monitor. It's a vast improvement over the BASIC V2 of the C64 and is only beaten by the BASIC 7 of the C128. You can easily do graphics and sound in BASIC without resorting to PEEK and POKE and you can write simple (or not to simple) machine language programs (in hex or assembler) using the monitor.
